Carlos García

A Journey Through Art and Psychology
Carlos García Cintrón, born on September 23, 1954, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is a distinguished psychologist and self-taught artist. His academic journey led him to earn a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Carlos Albizu University, and he began exploring photography in 1979, later embracing painting in 1996. García’s talent was globally recognized when his painting was auctioned at Christie’s Paris in 2004. His works are a part of various collections across Puerto Rico, the United States, Europe, and South America.
García’s individual exhibitions reflect his diverse artistic journey:
– 2013: “Personajes y Paisajes” (“Characters and Landscapes”), Casa de España, San Juan.
– 2006: “Santos y Otros Pecadores” (“Saints and Other Sinners”), Petrus Gallery, San Juan.
– 2005: “PEDRO ALBIZU CAMPOS; Cuarenta años de Inmortalidad” and “Cosas de Mi Naturaleza,” both in San Juan.
– 2002: “Pinturas Recientes” (“Recent Paintings”), El Chateau / Petrus Gallery, San Juan.
– 2001 and 1999: Exhibitions at the Museum of the Americas and Banco Bilbao Vizcaya, San Juan.
His collaborative works include notable collective exhibitions from 2002 to 2009 in venues like Christie’s New York and Paris, the Museum of the Americas in San Juan, and in Caracas, Venezuela. García’s pieces also feature in prominent collections like Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, The Dupont at the Circle Hotel in Washington, DC, and Casa de España in San Juan.
