A Fusion of Art and Architecture from the Bronx to Beyond
Born in 1980 in the vibrant Bronx, New York, Brian Rivera is a multifaceted artist whose creative spectrum spans architecture, painting, graphic design, photography, and screenprinting. Rivera’s educational journey took him to Arizona State University, where he earned a Master’s degree in Architecture. Here, his profound passion for social issues in design and art blossomed. During his studies, he was chosen for an esteemed Study Abroad program, which led him to Buenos Aires, Argentina, to work on the Urban Detritus Project at Universidad Torcuato di Tella.
Rivera’s artistic foundation was laid at the School of Fine Arts of Puerto Rico (Escuela de Artes Plásticas de PR), where he received his BFA. He majored in Graphic Design (Imagen y Diseño) with a minor in Painting, honing his skills and vision. His talent was recognized with the prestigious “Beca Lexus 2016” scholarship, culminating in an exhibition at MAPR in 2018. Rivera’s Capstone Project, “The Mill Plaza” (La Plaza del Molino), earned him a nomination for Design Excellence. He is also a recipient of the Scholarship Art Fair Arco in Spain and the Fellowship Foundation Arnaldo Roche Rabell. His artistic brilliance was further acknowledged with the First Prize in Painting at the Annual Exhibit of the School of Fine Arts.
Rivera’s work extends beyond academic recognition, having found a home in private collections across Puerto Rico and the United States. His art is not just a display of aesthetic prowess but a narrative of cultural and social dialogues, bridging communities through the universal language of creativity.
